pdotb@wyrms.de reviewed Buddha for beginners by Stephen T. Asma
Surprisingly good!
4 stars
Despite the use of cartoons/pictures on practically every page of this book, it turned out to offer a remarkably deep examination of Buddhism, starting with its roots in Hinduism and culminating in an exploration of the different streams of Buddhism today. (As a personal aside, I'm pretty sure it was a much earlier book in this series, on nuclear power, that set me on my political path, so I do have a bit of a soft spot for their presentation of serious topics).
